Margaret Ranger
I moved from Crewe to Holmes Chapel in 1980 and spent a busy decade involved with family life, full time work as a nurse and counsellor, as well as being a governor of a local primary school. Married to Steve, with two grown up children and one granddaughter all of whom have attended Holmes Chapel Primary School and Holmes Chapel Comprehensive School.
Recently I have been actively involved in setting up Holmes Chapel and District U3A which has seen its membership rapidly increase. I also support 'Home Grown in Holmes Chapel' which I am pleased to say has got off to a splendid start. Other interests include reading, politics, theatre, cinema, travel especially attending the Edinburgh festival!
My main concerns for the village are:
- The existing traffic problems, especially concerning juggernauts travelling through the centre at dangerous speeds.
- The acute shortage of affordable housing for first time buyers.
- Support for local businesses.
- Provisions of facilities for youth people including fit and proper maintenance of existing ones.
I love living in Holmes Chapel and I want to maintain its village atmosphere and the pleasure there is in living here.
