Margaret Ranger

I moved from Crewe to Holmes Chapel in 1980 and spent a busy decade involved with family life, full time work as a nurse and counsellor, as well as being a governor of a local primary school. Married to Steve, with two grown up children and one granddaughter all of whom have attended Holmes Chapel Primary School and Holmes Chapel Comprehensive School.

Recently I have been actively involved in setting up Holmes Chapel and District U3A which has seen its membership rapidly increase. I also support 'Home Grown in Holmes Chapel' which I am pleased to say has got off to a splendid start. Other interests include reading, politics, theatre, cinema, travel especially attending the Edinburgh festival!

My main concerns for the village are:

  1. The existing traffic problems, especially concerning juggernauts travelling through the centre at dangerous speeds.
  2. The acute shortage of affordable housing for first time buyers.
  3. Support for local businesses.
  4. Provisions of facilities for youth people including fit and proper maintenance of existing ones.

I love living in Holmes Chapel and I want to maintain its village atmosphere and the pleasure there is in living here.
