I was co-opted on to Holmes Chapel Parish Council in March 2006.

I am a Chartered Civil Engineer (retired) and have lived in Holmes Chapel, with my wife Liz, since 1972. Before retirement I was the Flood Defence District Manager for Cheshire and the Wirral with the National Rivers Authority. This involved working with and on major urban developments, County landfill sites, protection of petrochemical installations and agricultural land drainage.

I have had previous employment with a County Borough Council and worked on urban drainage and highways.

I have been a Circuit Steward in the Middlewich Methodist Church Circuit with lay oversight of seven Churches. At this time I am the Circuit Representative for Methodist Homes for the Aged.

On early retirement in 1995, I became a regular driver for the Thursday Communi-care Minibus, also the co-coordinator of this service and thus a member of the Holmes Chapel and District Minibus Committee; these offices are now relinquished.

I am a founder member of the Church Hulme Probus Club and was the second Chairman of the Club in 1998.

On Wednesday mornings, with a group of friends who meet in St Luke's Church Hall, I attempt to paint ‘artistically’ using water colours.

My wife and I enjoy trips to North Wales and sunshine holidays in Greece and Spain.
