Alan Rickards
Born and bred in Essex, I was married to Jacquie in 1972 and we have two grown up sons, Stephen and Andrew.
We lived in the Essex village of Linford for over 12 years, during which time I served with Linford Residents Association as Treasurer and later Chairman. I was also Treasurer and later Vice-President of Linford Wanderers Football & Sports Club. We moved to Holmes Chapel in 1985 when my job with Barclays Bank brought me to Radbroke Hall for four years. After two years in Cambridgeshire we returned to Holmes Chapel in 1991.
I have been a member of Holmes Chapel Parish Council since 1996 and have served as Chairman of the Council on two occasions. I am also a member of the interim steering group for the regeneration of the Crewe - Manchester railway line.
Away from the Council one of my interests is Steam Railways and I am a working volunteer at Peak Rail, based in Matlock, Derbyshire. My duties there are varied and I can often be seen either checking tickets, serving in one of the station shops or running the onboard buffet!
I am also a member of the Development Committee of the Crewe branch of the Alzheimer's Society.
