I was born in the East End of London in 1948 and grew up in north London where June and I were married in 1970. We moved north to Sandbach in Cheshire in 1973 and Holmes Chapel in 1974.  Apart from a nine-month period in 1984/85, we have lived here ever since. We have two adult children who both attended our local schools. One daughter and family live in the village and have two sons who were born here. They both attended Hermitage Primary School and have now moved up to the HC Comprehensive School. Our other daughter works for a locally based UK-wide transport company and lives with her partner in Winsford.

I worked for Barclays for nearly 30 years – I was in the advance party that opened up Radbroke Hall in 1973.  During my time in Barclays, I had many roles but ended up Head of Procurement. I left Barclays in 1993 to form my own Procurement Consultancy company.  For 20 years I worked for clients in the Middle East, South Africa, Europe, and the USA as well as latterly for 12 years in the UK for various government departments at Westminster.  I retired in 2013 and have provided procurement and contract advice to a few clients as well as business mentoring since then.

My time working in Westminster from 2000 to 2012 was remarkably interesting and I learnt a lot more about how central and local government works today.

I cannot imagine at the moment of living anywhere else, Holmes Chapel has provided me and my growing family a great and pleasant place to live.  With more time, I wanted to be able to contribute more to ensuring Holmes Chapel continues to be a great place to live.  I was pleased to have the opportunity to be co-opted as a Parish Councillor in 2014 and remained as a councillor at the elections in 2015, 2019 and 2023.

Prior to being co-opted I worked as a volunteer on the background work associated with the bid made by Holmes Chapel Parish Council to purchase the former AP Club from Sanofi, now the Holmes Chapel Community Centre.  Since the purchase in the summer of 2015, I have been pleased to continue to work on bringing the facilities of Holmes Chapel Community Centre back into use and provide a strong base for the local population for leisure and sports activities as well as a meeting place.

I have interests in Planning and served as chairman of the committees that created the Holmes Chapel Neighbourhood Plan which was made in 2017. I served as chairman of the Parish Council for four years since May 2017 and have been chairman of the Parish Council's Strategic Planning Group for the same period.
