Summer Celebration 2025

Love this Village? Love spending time in this great community? If yes, then the Summer Celebration is the weekend for you! Following on from the huge successes of last two years once again we are having another weekend of fun and community spirit! Take time to look at the incredible events lined up and we hope you can join us!

Friday 4th July 6-11pm Experience the village centre without any cars! Come down to London Road, listen to some live music, Dane Sound Radio and dance in the street! Come together with family, friends and neighbours and enjoy a relaxing evening in our remarkable historic centre and purchase delicious food and drink from our fabulous local businesses!

We are delighted to welcome two new acts this year - Harris Rafferty and "Sax On The Street" Mike Irving! They will be playing sets at the top end of London Road near the former Barclays, whilst you can dance along with Dane Sound radio at the bottom end near Celeste.

Harris Rafferty

Harris is a singer-songwriter and guitarist hailing from the northwest of England, known for crafting songs that capture both his personal experiences and his perceptions of the world around him, with soulful and authentic lyrics at their heart. Harris truly embodies his tagline of “No Gimmick Indie Rock”.

Over the years, Harris has had the opportunity to play at a variety of venues across the North West and support an impressive range of artists, including legendary names like PP Arnold, up-and-coming talents such as Che Aimee Dorval, Ashley Campbell and The Franklin Electric as well as dynamic bands like Jeramiah Ferrari and Merry Hell.

Currently working on his debut EP, Harris is blending Britpop and indie rock influences from artists like Sam Fender, Paolo Nutini, The Killers, and Wunderhorse. Scheduled for release in late 2025, this EP promises to captivate the indie scene and propel Harris toward even greater opportunities.

His first single, Eighteen, explores the journey of growing up, managing expectations, and navigating the complexities of maturity. It has garnered widespread admiration throughout the Lancashire music scene, marking an exciting beginning for Harris as he embarks on the next chapter of his musical career.

Sax on the Street - Mike Irving

Mike Irving is a founder member of the Congleton-based rock band 'The Extractions' that have been playing in East Cheshire, and beyond, for 30 years (they can be found on Facebook). 'The Extractions' have always been, essentially, a conduit for raising funds for charity as well as providing entertainment at parties, plus the occasional wedding. Mike's original role was to play guitar in the rhythm section, but after a few years he introduced saxophones to the band which enabled forays into a new musical dimension and a segue into a few well-received Soul tunes. Mike has been blowing a saxophone for about twenty years but in the last three or so he has significantly stepped up his focus on the solo saxophone without the safety net of a full band behind him. Mike plays the saxes for pleasure and donates every penny earned to charity. Mike hopes he plays something to resonates with everyone . He really hopes you can join in the crowd for this event. As a musician Mike just wants to see people enjoy themselves and he hope's you will be there 'tapping a toe'.
