Her Majesty the Queen will be celebrating 70 years on the throne with a series of events over the 2nd to 5th June to celebrate her Platinum Jubilee.

The Parish Council is delighted to be working with Community Groups and individual volunteers to celebrate this momentous occasion here in Holmes Chapel.

Here is how you can get involved!

Decorate your home/business

Be part of the Rumble in the Jubilee and decorate your home/business by 14th May with bunting, flags and royal decorations! Please contact Dane Sound Radio for more information on how to get involved - contact@danesound.com

Commonwealth Trail

A selection of Commonwealth flags are now in the shops/businesses throughout the village. Can you guess which country the flag represents? Keep an eye out - trail forms can be collected from the Print Room or the Parish Council Offices.  Complete the trail by 30th June.

Thursday 2nd June - Beacon Lighting

Come and join us at St Luke's Church as we light one of the over 2,022 beacons being lit in honour of Her Majesty! London Road will be closed between 8-11pm to allow residents plenty of space to watch this historic moment. Proceedings will begin at 8.45pm with a Proclamation by the Town Crier, followed by a Piper playing a various locations along London Road. At 9.30pm congregate near St Luke's where the Piper and Bugler will play music specially selected for the occasion. The beacon will be lit at 9.45pm until 10.30pm.

For those driving - restrictions have been lifted on the village centre Precinct Car Park for the evening allowing parking there, as well as in the car parks off Parkway.

Saturday 4th June - Church Bells

From 10am the bells at St Lukes Church will joyfully peal, in celebration of the 70 year reign of Queen Elizabeth II.  Listen out for this on Saturday morning as you are out and about in the village - a good chance to take a closer at all the wonderful decorations throughout the centre, learn more about the history of the shops by reading the history trail panels and maybe do our Commonwealth flag hunt too!

Sunday 5th June - The Big Lunch

11.30am Service of Celebration - Churches Together Service: Holmes Chapel Leisure Centre

1-4pm The Big Lunch -  bring your own picnic and join us for a free family fun afternoon at Holmes Chapel Leisure Centre.  There will be a fancy dress parade so come dressed in all your royal regalia! Browse the 'Through the Decades' Stalls being run by community groups! Listen to the live entertainment including a brass band! Enjoy outdoor games, bouncy castle, virtual golf and admire the classic cars!

Please note:

Parking is limited, so walk if you can.

No BBQs or drinking glasses are allowed.

Dogs are not allowed on the site.

History Displays

The U3A history group have created a display - "Holmes Chapel in 1952" which can be seen in the front windows of the Co-op.  It is also worth spending some time to look at the individual panels which are being displayed in each of the shops, giving the history of each of our local shop units.

Do you own a vintage vehicle from the Queen's reign or earlier?

We would love to include more locally owned vehicles in the Classic Cars display. If you own a piece of motoring history, please consider giving it the chance to shine at this unique celebration of the Platinum Jubilee. Contact the Clerk of the Council if you are able to help.

Would you like to play a role in this historic event?  We are looking for local volunteers to be stewards, help set up and more. Please contact the Clerk to register your interest in volunteering: clerk@holmeschapelparishcouncil.gov.uk

Be part of the celebrations - we can't wait to see you!
