Holmes Chapel Youth Council

The Youth Council has had a great year creating a firm foundation on which to build, after the activities were paused due to the pandemic.

Following the AGM on 19th October 2021, Theodore Castle, Isla Driscoll, Marcus Fu, Finley Hettrick, Jessica Hughes, Oliver Matthews, Rosie Sumpter and Maddison Wood all joined the Youth Council. Since that time, they have all worked really hard to rebuild the Youth Council, all using their individual skills and talents to make a significant contribution.

As a group they have learnt so much about how to run meetings, organise events, debate ideas and projects and coordinate surveys amongst their peers. They have some interesting plans for future projects which include the introduction of some 'chatty benches', a possible youth shelter, investigating ways to combat littering in and around the village, continuing the Youth Cinema and a possible trip to the Houses of Parliament. In addition, they've had visiting speakers to their meetings such as the local PCSO and this has given them the opportunity to share their concerns about issues within the village.

We were sad to say goodbye to one of the Youth Council members, Theodore Castle. Theodore joined the Youth Council when it first began in 2019. He has faithfully served since that time, including acting as Chairman and been very involved in the work of the Youth Council. He was presented with an award to thank him for his hard work and we wish him all the best for the future.

The Parish Council is very proud of how hard the Youth Council has worked over this last year and look forward to continuing to support them.
