Welcome to the web site of Holmes Chapel Parish Council
Holmes Chapel is a pleasant, large village located in South East Cheshire. It extends over 2 square kilometres and provides basic key services for the extensive surrounding rural area.
The location has very good communication links via road and rail. Junction 18 on the M6 is within easy reach. Holmes Chapel’s own railway station enables commuting to Manchester, Liverpool, Crewe(then mainline connections to Birmingham, Rugby, London/Euston). Manchester Airport is within easy reach by road and/or by rail.
The village is represented by twelve parish councillors elected to serve for up to four years. There is provision for bye election or co-option to the Council should the number fall below twelve members within that period. The last election was held in 2008.
The Council meets on a regular basis in a six weeks cycle, usually on Thursday evenings in the Community Room of the Library building. There is a public forum time at the beginning of Full Council meetings.
Three Committees form part of the cycle and cover Strategy, Amenities and Technical Services. Also a Finance Committee meets on a quarterly basis. All committee meetings are held at the Council’s office at 1 Church Walk.
The procedures at all these meetings are governed by Standing Orders and a Code of Conduct for members.
