The village is represented by twelve parish councillors elected to serve for up to four years. There is provision for by-election or co-option to the Council should the number fall below twelve members within that period. The last election was held in 2015.
The Council meets on a regular basis in a six weeks cycle, usually on Thursday evenings in the Community Room of the Library building and from January 2016 at the Holmes Chapel Community Centre. There is a public forum time at the beginning of both Full council and committee meetings.
Three Committees form part of the cycle and cover Strategy and Partnerships, Amenities and Technical Services. Also a Finance Committee meets on a quarterly basis. All committee meetings from January 2016 will also be held at the Holmes Chapel Community Centre. The Council office is at 1 Church Walk in the village centre.
The procedures at all these meetings are governed by Standing Orders and a Code of Conduct for members.
