Updated: May 16, 2023

4th May saw Parish and Borough Council elections. Your new Parish Council are Steve Allott, Anita Armitt, Brian Bath, Mike Blomeley, John Clowes, Patricia Cotton, Martin Elliott, Chris Jackson, Chris Jones, Mike Street, Diane Tams, and Rich Wilcock. Steve Allott and Chris Jones are new to the Parish Council and we warmly welcome you to the team. The Ward Councillors for the Dane Valley area are Russell Chadwick and Andrew Kolker.

Our first meeting of the Civic Year will be held on 18th May - 7pm in the Academy Suite of the Community Centre. The agenda will be published on our website this Friday. Meetings | Holmes Chapel Parish Council Residents are very welcome to attend!

The Parish Council is so grateful to the faithful service and commitment from Rab Parry. Rab served as a Parish Councillor for an incredible 43 years! He served as chairman twice, in 1989/90 and 1996/97, and was very active in many other positions on council committees. His contribution to parish council business and activities over this long period has been extensive and his local knowledge of great use to the council.

Rab also showed great commitment to other organisations including the Cheshire Brine Subsidence Compensation Board, Cheshire County Adoption Panel, Manchester Airport Consultative Committee and Cheshire Community Action. This in addition to having served as a school governor for Holmes Chapel Comprehensive School, Middlewich Road Primary School, Sandbach Boys and Sir John Deanes Sixth Form College.

He also undertook various roles as an elected member for Congleton Borough Council from 1981-2003 and was Mayor in 1999/2000. He served on Cheshire County Council from 1993-2001 and ended up as Vice-Chairman. He became an Honorary Alderman of Cheshire East Council.

Rab stepped down from the Parish Council and did not re-stand in the recent May elections. But his public service is exemplified by the time and effort he has given to faithfully serve others, including the residents of Holmes Chapel and this Parish Council. We wish him all the best for a happy retirement!

Photos show Rab at his last Full Council meeting in April, receiving an award from the Parish Council after 40 years of service and with the knitted King at the recent Big Lunch celebration!
