Civic Service for the Community 2026

Holmes Chapel Parish Council was delighted to welcome representatives from local community groups, organisations and businesses to our Civic Service at St Luke’s Church on Sunday 27 September. We were also pleased to welcome our MP, Sarah Russell, and Ward Councillor Russell Chadwick. Canon Rob McLaren led the service.

The Civic Service is an opportunity to celebrate all that is good about our village and to recognise the many ‘unsung heroes’ whose hard work, dedication and commitment make such a positive difference to our community.

The service began with a warm welcome from Vice-Chair, Cllr Chris Jackson. We were particularly pleased that one of our Youth Councillors, Jessie, took part by reading one of the Bible readings. The service concluded with the singing of the National Anthem.

Following the service, guests were invited to St Luke’s Church Hall for tea, coffee and cakes. It was wonderful to meet so many people who give their time and energy to making Holmes Chapel such a great place to live.

This was the final Civic Service of the current Parish Council term with elections due to take place in May 2027. We would like to take this opportunity to say a special thank you to Cllr Patricia Cotton, who has played an instrumental role in organising our Civic Services over a number of years. We are incredibly grateful for all her hard work behind the scenes in helping to make these occasions so special.

We look forward to welcoming everyone back to our Civic Service next year!
