Falls Prevention Awareness Week takes place from 21–24 September, with a local drop-in event being held at Holmes Chapel Community Centre on Thursday 24 September, from 11am–1pm.

The event is for anyone who wants to reduce their risk of falling, is worried about falling, or would like to improve their strength, balance and mobility.

Family members, carers, health professionals and anyone supporting someone who may be at risk of falling are also welcome.

Working in partnership with the NHS, Steady On Your Feet and Cheshire East Council, the event will provide practical advice and information to help people stay active, independent and safe in their own homes.

What will be available?

Information and advice will be available on:

  • 🦴 Bone health

  • 🧍 Getting up safely from the floor

  • 🥗 Nutrition and hydration

  • 🚶 Physical activity and lifestyle

  • 🦶 Foot care

  • 🏠 Handyperson services and home safety

  • ❤️ Blood pressure checks

Visitors will also be able to speak directly with professionals, learn practical exercises and find out about local services that can help with falls prevention and maintaining independence.

There is no need to book – simply drop in. Refreshments will be available, and attendees will also receive a goody bag to take home.
