Back in September 2024, Holmes Chapel Parish Council secured Section 106 (S106) funding from Cheshire East Council to restore and reline the large pond in Dane Meadow. Previously, the pond was drying up each summer, putting local wildlife at risk.
To further enhance the area, additional S106 funding has been used to install coir matting around the pond’s edge. This planted matting will cover the exposed liner and gradually develop into thriving vegetation, helping to create a more natural and sustainable habitat.
It’s already fantastic to see the results, with wildlife including newts, tadpoles, fish, beetles and more now flourishing in the pond.
The Parish Council would like to thank Sibelco (Rudheath Lodge site) for their very generous donation of gravel which has helped to secure the matting and protect the pond further.
Important: please help protect this area and its wildlife by not allowing dogs to enter the pond.
