Parish Council remembers VJ Day 80 with Royal British Legion in Holmes Chapel

Holmes Chapel Parish Council was honoured to mark the 80th anniversary of VJ Day with a respectful ceremony in St Luke's churchyard.

The commemoration included a two-minute silence, observed in the glorious sunshine, offering a moment of quiet reflection for all present. Either side of the silence, there was a recital of "For the Fallen".

Two wreaths were laid as part of the ceremony. Councillor Diane Tams, Chair of the Parish Council, placed a wreath on behalf of the Parish Council, symbolising the community’s enduring gratitude and remembrance.

The British Legion expressed its appreciation to all who attended and joined together in ensuring that the legacy of those who served continues to be remembered with dignity and respect.
