Remembrance Sunday 2020

Due to the current situation with coronavirus, we are disappointed to have to cancel the usual Remembrance Sunday Parade. Whilst there will be a socially distanced wreath laying ceremony by the war memorial, this will be for invited persons only, and we would encourage residents to ‘Remember from Home’ the sacrifice made by so many and observe a 2 minute silence at 11am from the safety of their own homes.

The British Legion has listed different ways you can mark Remembrance Sunday. Please click this link to access their website:

You can also leave a virtual tribute in a 'Virtual Field of Remembrance':

In the two weeks leading up to Remembrance Sunday we will be honouring the lives of those from Holmes Chapel who made the ultimate sacrifice during World War I by sharing their stories on our website and Facebook page.

'They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:  Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning We will remember them.'
